Guideline for Hainan Airline Carry-on Pet Service

Good News!!

Hainan Airlines now accepts dogs and cats domesticated by families as carry-on pets. At present, this service is only available for domestic direct flights in economy class departing from the cities listed below:

Lanzhou, Haikou, Xi’an, Shanghai Hongqiao & Pudong, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Zhengzhou, Taiyuan, Hefei, Changsha, Dalian, Qingdao, Harbin, Urumqi, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Yinchuan, Jinan, Beijing Capital airport, Chongqing, Zhuhai, Nanchang, Ningbo, Kunming, Shenyang, Wenzhou, etc.

General Provisions

Each passenger can check in only one pet on the same flight.

Each flight accepts maximum 4-6 pets based on the aircraft.If you departs from Beijing International Airport, there is limited number of pets allowed to take off from the entire airport.

• Max. 10 pets are allowed flying from the entire airport from 8:00 to 12:59
• Max. 6 pets are allowed flying from the entire airport from 13:00 to 14:59.
• Max. 10 pets are allowed flying from the entire airport from 15:00 to 21:59.

Requirements for Pet Carriers

The maximum carrier dimension is 35*28*24cm.

If you use a soft bag, the dimension of the soft bag could be a little bigger when unfold, but not exceed 35*28*24cm when pressed down to ensure that it can be fitted under the seat in front of you. 

The soft bag must have zippers; A nylon strip can pass through the hollow part of the zippers to make sure the bag cannot be opened each side after locking. The bag will not be accepted if the zipper cannot be effectively locked. The airline staff will provide passenger a net to cover the entire bag, and a nylon strip is used again at the knot of the net. It is not allowed to open the net and bag until you finish the entire trip and leave the destination airport with your pet.

Notes

• Carry-on pets need to undergo body cleaning before transportation.
• During the whole journey, pet should wear clothing, and muzzle to prevent barking from disturbing other passengers; pet diapers should be used to prevent feces from contaminating the aircraft.
• Pets must be staying at the bag all the time and placed under the seat in front of you. Nylon strips and net must not be opened.
• Passengers are not allowed to feed their pet throughout the transportation.
• During the security check, pets must be staying at the soft bag and going through the check belt.

Except for the nylon strip and net, the other aforementioned materials shall be provided by passengers themselves.

Document Requirements for Pet Transportation

• Animal Quarantine Certificate issued by local quarantine office.
• Rabies Vaccination for dogs.

Fee Rates

RMB 1430.00/pet including pet insurance (prepaid when booking the pet service)

Banned Breed

• Dangerous dogs and their crossbreeds (including aggressive fighting dogs such as fighting dogs, mixed breeds of fighting dogs and large dogs): Large and medium-sized terriers (e.g., Bellington Terrier, Fox Terrier), Staffer Terrier, all Boxers, all spaniels (Spanish spaniel), all Mastiffs, Pit Bull Terriers, Japanese Tosa (a.k.a. Tosa), Brazilian Phille (a.k.a. Brazilian Mastiffs), Argentine Dogos and Belgian Malinois.
  
  Note: Limited to large and medium-sized terriers only. Small terriers and toy terriers (inculding West Highland White Terrier, mini Schnauzer, etc.,) can be transported normally.
• Dogs have discomfort with high altitude and high temperature: Samoyed.

Reservations

To ensure that the pet transportation service is properly arranged and allow ample time for preparing your pet’s journey, please make a reservation for carry-on pet service with Hainan Airlines at least 24 hours prior to departure of your flight. Passengers can make carry-on pet reservations through the following channels:

1. Ticket offices of Hainan Airlines.

2. 24-hour booking hotline of Hainan Airlines 95339.

3. Hainan Airlines APP

4. Hainan Airlines Official Website

5. Hainan Airlines Mini Programs

Note: Beijing departure booking channel is limited to 24-hour hotline of Hainan Airlines 95339.

When making a reservation for carry-on pet service, please prepare the following information:

1. Passenger’s ticket number starting with 880-

2. Animal Quarantine Certificate

3. Rabies Vaccination

Hainan Airlines then will send passengers a link to upload the Animal Quarantine Certificate. 

They will check the certificate and then send passengers a link for payment if the certificate is ok. Passengers need to complete the payment within 15 minutes. Payment can be done through WeChat or Alipay.

Thereafter Hainan Airlines will send passengers a receipt of carry-on pet service by SNS message. This message need to be kept well and shown to the Hainan Airlines check-in counter.

Please arrive at the Hainan Airlines check-in counter at least 2 hours before the scheduled departure time of your flight with your pet, pet carrier and any required transportation documents to complete the check-in procedures.
