Taking Your Pet on Co-Share Flight
What is code-share flight
Code-share flight are airline partnerships in which two or more airlines share the same flight. One airline handles the actual operation of the flight—such as providing the aircraft, crew, and other services—while another airlines markets and sells the flight under its own branding and flight number. Normally you can see the remark on the itinerary.
Advantage of code-share flight
Co-share flights allow airlines to offer more destinations and flexible routes with less transits. They are quite common and generally don’t cause complications for passengers.
Disadvantage of code-share flight
It will be complicated if you are going to travel with your pet because each airlines have their own pet policy.For example, the fastest route from Beijing to Atlanta is transit through Seoul via Korea Airlines. The first leg of flight is operated by Korea airlines itself. They accept pets in the cabin and in the cargo compartment. The second flight from Seoul to Atlanta is operated by Delta, which only accepts pet in the cabin.
Korea Airlines and Delta also have different requirement for pet in cabin:

If you fly with co-share flight, you and your pet will need to entry the transit country, and your pet need to comply with the transit country’s pet import requirement.
For example, if you transit from EU country, your pet need a rabies antibody titer test done by EU approved lab at least 3 months in advance. An import permit will be needed for some countries such as Thailand, Singapore, etc.. We suggest that you avoid booking co-share flight to simplify the whole journey for you and your pet. Otherwise, make sure your pet will be allowed in both flights, and don’t forget to make reservation for your pet with both flights in advance. If you have to entry a third country, remember to find out their pet import requirement and prepare in advance.
